How apprenticeships work in Newcastle and the North East

How the training is delivered

Solveway trains apprentices for employers across Newcastle and the North East. Training is delivered online and in the workplace, and a Solveway trainer supports each apprentice and their employer throughout the programme.

Do I need an employer first?

An apprenticeship is a job with training attached. Apprentices are employed, earn a wage and never pay for their training. An employer can take on someone new or train an existing member of staff. If you do not have an employer yet, register with us and we will talk you through the next step.

Who pays for the training?

What an employer pays depends on whether it pays the apprenticeship levy and on the age of the apprentice. Our apprenticeship funding guide sets out the current rules, and our guide for learners explains pay, entry and what to expect.
