Assistant Accountant Apprentice
Role Overview
- Process weekly and monthly payroll for clients.
- Prepare PAYE, National Insurance and pension calculations.
- Submit RTI returns to HMRC.
- Deal with starters, leavers, holiday pay and other payroll queries.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Review VAT workings and ensure transactions are correctly coded.
- Complete bank reconciliations and maintain accurate bookkeeping records.
- Assist clients with Making Tax Digital requirements.
- Follow up with clients for missing information and documentation.
- Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Assist with trial balances, journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Prepare working papers and schedules for review.
- Assist with management accounts and other accounting assignments.
- Liaise with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
- Manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively.
- Communicate professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Support the wider team with ad-hoc accounting and administrative tasks.
Training to be Provided
As part of this AAT Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship, you will receive comprehensive training and support:
- Attend structured off-the-job training delivered by Solveway Apprenticeships.
- Complete portfolio evidence linked to your workplace activities.
- Benefit from regular progress reviews to track your development.
- Be supported by a designated workplace mentor providing day-to-day guidance and feedback.
- Work towards the successful completion of your End Point Assessment.
We will provide appropriate workplace tasks that allow you to develop competence in financial reporting, budgeting, tax processes, and professional behaviours in line with the apprenticeship standard.
