
Apprentice Assistant Accountant
This role supports the wider finance team while the employee works towards the AAT Level 3 qualification as part of the apprenticeship programme delivered by Solveway Apprenticeships. The apprentice will gain practical experience in preparing financial statements, managing budgets, producing reports, and supporting month end processes, applying advanced accounting knowledge directly within the workplace. This role is suitable for individuals progressing from Level 2 or those with existing bookkeeping experience who are ready to take on greater responsibility within a finance function.
Apprentice Assistant Accountant
Role Overview
Duties The apprentice will support the finance function within the organisation and carry out a range of accounting activities appropriate to an AAT Level 3 Assistant Accountant role.
Typical responsibilities may include:
• Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and management accounts
• Supporting month end and year end processes
• Preparing and posting journals, accruals and prepayments
• Assisting with budget preparation and monitoring
• Supporting cash flow forecasting
• Assisting with VAT returns and tax related processes
• Conducting balance sheet reconciliations
• Analysing financial data to support decision making
• Maintaining accurate financial records in line with internal controls
• Using accounting software and financial systems confidently and accurately
• Communicating professionally with internal stakeholders and external contacts
Training to be Provided
Essential: As part of the apprenticeship programme, the employee will:
• Attend structured off the job training delivered by Solveway Apprenticeships
• Complete portfolio evidence linked to workplace activities
• Receive regular progress reviews
• Be supported by a designated workplace mentor
• Work towards successful completion of End Point Assessment
Training takes place Live On-Line learning with a qualified tutor and dedicated work coach.
We will provide appropriate workplace tasks that allow the apprentice to develop competence in financial reporting, budgeting, tax processes and professional behaviours in line with the apprenticeship standard.

• Long term progression towards Chartered Accountant status
